Central DuPage
As part of an overall drive to improve patient safety, Central DuPage Hospital implemented a closed-loop barcode medication program. They selected best-in-class components from multiple vendors to create a comprehensive cartless medication distribution system. They installed two Talyst AutoCarousels to improve inventory control by automating their medication storage and retrieval. It cut their storage footprint in half, and created the space needed for a new USP 797-compliant clean room. Central DuPage chose Talyst AutoPharm® software to link their systems and drive their wholesale ordering, order picking, and unit dose barcoding. They installed a Talyst AutoPack packager to produce barcoded unit-dose packaging and, after implementation of the multi-vendor closed-loop system, Central DuPage recorded a 50% reduction in medication administration errors.
