Dedicated to the mission of engineering the safer pharmacy, Carla Corkern brings a strategic mindset with high-tech and business savvy to the role of Talyst’s CEO and Chairman of the Board. Carla brings over 20 years of experience in high-tech and supply chain management, and has helped build a number of highly-successful technology companies. Carla is active in a number of charitable organizations, and serves on the Girl Scouts of Western Washington’s Board of Directors. She is a strong advocate of women seeking technology careers, and was recently named one of the 100 Top Women is Seattle Tech. Carla holds a B.S. in Technical Communication from Louisiana Tech University and conducted graduate work at Southern Methodist University.

Director, Marketing and Sales Operations
Michael Blondin joined Talyst in 2014 as Director of Marketing and Sales Operations. He has more than 15 years of experience in marketing, sales and sales operations in a variety of technology and service organizations. In his role at Talyst he is responsible for marketing, inside sales and sales operations for the Acute Care and Extended Care divisions. Prior to Talyst he served as a Consultant for LeadMethod, a start-up lead management and sales performance software company. For nearly a decade he served as the Director of Marketing and Sales Operations at Engineered Software, Inc., a privately held software company that serviced the engineering industry. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Western Washington University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Kogod School of Business at American University in Washington, DC.

Darcy Clarke has been with Talyst since 2002. He is the Vice President of Research and Development. Darcy was instrumental in developing the first release of AutoPharm and expanding the company’s product portfolio to other health care markets, including Long-Term Care and Correctional Institutions. Darcy continues to develop innovative products with the Talyst R&D team, and also manages Talyst’s intellectual property portfolio. Prior to Talyst, Darcy was the head of product development for MEDS, located in Montreal and was the head of support at Innovex, a bio medical company.

Jeff Dirks joined Talyst is 2016 as Chief Operating Officer. He has more than two decades of executive leadership experience transforming entrepreneurial ideas and leading edge technologies into enterprise solutions. In his role at Talyst he is responsible for leading the research and development, marketing, customer support and vendor relations teams. Prior to Talyst he was the Chief Operating Officer at Limeade, which developed a SAAS-based employee health engagement platform. Previous roles include SVP & General Manager at Outerwall, President & CEO at SchemaLogic Software, Inc., and President and COO at CapitalStream. He holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Washington.

Dennis is a senior executive with over 30 years of diversified business management experience. He quickly adapts to new technologies, and has enjoyed spending 15 years of his career in hardware and software development and services. Dennis has held several ownership and management positions in startups and early stage companies where he demonstrated his strong leadership and negotiating skills, working on multiple levels by using a “hands-on, roll up your sleeves” approach. Dennis is a creative problem solver with solid analytical and team building abilities. While the CEO/COO at Data Transit Corporation, Dennis established a market vision and product roadmap that drove sales to double in less than 12 months, resulting in a market valuation increase of 150% and allowing for a successful exit for the founder. During his time as the EVP-CFO at Computer Access Technology Corporation, Dennis lead their IPO, raising $42M; and at Whisper Communications was responsible for raising over $40M in equity funding and successfully completing a $20M debt to equity conversion. Dennis earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from California State University, Long Beach. He loves the outdoors and is an avid hockey fan and woodworker.

Vice President of Automation Operations
Huan Nguyen is responsible for leading Talyst Long-Term Care’s efforts to expand and strengthen relationships with customers, partners and providers in developing and implementing industry leading medication management automation solutions. Prior to Talyst, Nguyen spent four years as the Vice President of Operations at AlixaRx, during its inception and spinoff from Golden Living. He helped define, create, and operationalize the innovation in pharmacy services that persists between AlixaRx and Golden Living, and which serves as one model of how a modern, automated medication supply relationship can replace less-advanced methods. Nguyen was responsible for operations and performance of all pharmacy hub locations, as well as implementation of new business, compliance, and development of standardized operating processes and procedures. Nguyen’s previous experience includes Vice President of Operations at OnSiteRx, and Vice President of Operations at Walgreens Long-Term Care Pharmacy where he managed branch locations of five long-term care pharmacies. Nguyen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Washington, and is a registered pharmacist in both Texas and Washington State.

Vice President of Acute Care Sales
Steve Short joined Talyst in 2011. He has 20 years of extensive sales expertise in the Acute Care market, which has resulted in solid sales growth. Prior to Talyst, Steve has been responsible for driving sales growth that led his prior company to expand from an individual owner, to private equity and ultimately, culminated in a successful sale to a publicly-traded strategic buyer. Steve holds a B.A. in Corporate Communications with minors in Marketing and Management from the Northern Kentucky University.

Kevin Barber is a Managing Director at Columbia Pacific Advisors, a Seattle-based alternative investment management firm. At Columbia Pacific Advisors, Kevin co-manages Union Bay Capital Partners I, LLC, a fund dedicated to providing growth capital to expansion stage technology, healthcare and business services companies. Prior to his current role, Kevin was a Senior Vice President in Comerica Bank’s Technology and Life Sciences practice where he provided acquisition and growth capital financing for technology companies throughout the western United States. Earlier in his career, Kevin served as a General Partner at Northwest Venture Associates, a venture capital firm focused on growth capital investments in the Pacific Northwest. Kevin is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Remote Medical International as well as serve as a board observer at Next IT, BlueBox Group, POW and Miox.

He was an angel investor and catalyst behind Pinger, a Kleiner-Perkins backed messaging company. He also lead Venafi, an enterprise security software company following its Series A financing. Along with his early and growth stage operating experience, Stead brings a wealth of technology finance background having been an early stage venture capitalist and sell side internet equity analyst.
